EV-Down Milk kit allows the fast isolation of extracellular vesicles (EVs) from milk, without requiring ultracentrifugation. Milk containing EVs is skimmed, depleted of its casein and then incubated overnight with a reagent that captures water molecules, leading to the precipitation of EVs. By low-speed centrifugations, EVs are pelleted and can be resuspended in the desired buffer, in the desired volume.
Isolated EVs can be used for several downstream applications like protein quantification, particle counting and sizing, Western blot, functional assays or can be further purified using chromatography.
